How To Improve The Audio Quality In Your Videos (Easy To Do)

Learn how to improve the audio quality in your videos in 5 easy steps.
Follow this step-by-step guide to find out the steps I used to achieve over hundreds of million views and thousands of followers and subscribers across Youtube, Facebook, Instagram, Tiktok and Snapchat.

Many content creators at the start overlook the importance of audio quality in their videos.
Whether is it an explainer type video, podcast or even a music cover, good audio quality is crucial for a viral video.
Because if the sound is poor, the quality of the video is affected and this might lead viewers to stop watching your video.
So here are 5 easy steps you can do today:
- Get A Microphone
- Direction & Distance Of Your Microphone
- Edit Your Voice/Vocals
- Control Your Movements & Surroundings
- Increase Volume of Your Voice
Let’s get started!
1. Get A Microphone

Gettinga microphone is the fastest way to strengthen and enhance your sound quality. Depending on what kind of videos you do, you need to find a microphone suitable.
If you are shooting content mainly at home or a studio, I would recommend these mics for recording vocals.
These types of microphones are typically used for podcasts or any type of video that requires speaking or voiceover work.
However, if you are mainly doing vlogs or any filming that requires you to be outside speaking, I would recommend microphones that has mounts to fit as an extension to your camera.
2. Direction & Distance Of Your Microphone

The direction and distance of your microphone is one of the few things content creators forget to consider.
Sometimes, something as simple as changing the direction of your microphone will help enhance your sound quality dramatically.
The distance of your mic vastly depends on your content, if you are vlogging, you will naturally be pretty limited to how close or how far you can go for sound quality.
However, if you are doing any type of vocal recording, whether is it for podcast, videos or even music singing, a good rule of thumb to have is your mouth 2 to 3 inches away from the microphone.
3. Edit Your Voice/Vocals

Although have a good mic for recording is good enough, you can take it up a notch by learning how to edit your voice or singing vocals.
By learning how to adjust EQs, cleaning up the background noises and mixing your volume well, you can make your audio sound crisper and better.
Of course, if you are editing your voice for just videos and podcasts, a good start is to balance the volume levels of your voice with the music that might be playing underneath it so the music does not overpower your voice.
From there, you can always start adjusting your voice’s low, mids and high ranges to get a richer and fuller voiceover.
4. Control Your Movements & Surroundings
You always want to create a quiet environment when you record any vocals or audio. So make sure your room or studio does not have any electrical appliance that creates loud or soft noise (Example Air condition, humming of lights, etc.)
If you are vlogging, try to find a place that has the least noise or turn away from the majority of noise and start filming.
Another thing you can do is to avoid wearing noisy pieces of clothing or avoid hitting your surroundings, such as your tables or chairs, to minimise unwanted noises in your recordings.
5. Increase Volume of Your Voice

The projection of your own voice may also affect your sound quality. So try learning how to increase the volume of your voice by being more confident when you speak.
It is tough to be able to have a strong and powerful voice right off the bat, so this one requires time to develop so do not stress about too much as long as you keep trying you will soon achieve a more confident voice and you.
Summary
Your audio are just as important as your visuals in your videos.
Although your audio does not have to be as perfect as your visuals, it still has to be of good quality and standard.
Because a viral video is one that is well-rounded in all aspects.
To recap, the 4 steps are:
- Get A Microphone
- Direction & Distance Of Your Microphone
- Edit Your Voice/Vocals
- Control Your Movements & Surroundings
- Increase Volume of Your Voice
However, with that being said, it still requires hard work to achieve success on any social media platform so always keep working at it and be consistent.
